Our Amnesty group began in September 2024. After helping set up the Friends of Palestine Port Mac group earlier in the year, we knew the genocide unfolding was part of something bigger—an unravelling of human rights around the world, and a crisis of conscience close to home.
We saw the need for a trusted platform to bring more people in. Amnesty gives us that: a rigorous, respected voice with decades of research, and the grounding we needed to have hard conversations with clarity and care.
What we stand for.
Human rights are for everyone, everywhere.
Injustice anywhere impacts justice everywhere.
Community matters. Change starts where we are.
We all have a role to play.
What we do.
We keep things simple but meaningful:
Fortnightly Saturday meet-ups at Roto House
Book club discussions for deeper learning
Monthly film nights with open, honest conversation
Craftivism, protest actions, and community gatherings
Whether it’s turning up to a rally or for a book club, we believe every action helps build a fairer world and open up space for important conversations.
